Unimog Models , Complete Technical Encyclopedia
The Unimog is one of the most diverse families of utility vehicles ever produced. From the humble 1946 prototype conceived in postwar Germany to the powerful Euro VI models of today, every generation of Unimog has shared the same core philosophy: maximum versatility through intelligent engineering. This encyclopedia gathers the complete technical history of every model series, with detailed specifications and production histories.
The range has evolved dramatically over eight decades. Early models like the Boehringer 70200 and the 401 series were simple agricultural tools, built to replace draft animals in the fields of a recovering Germany. By the 1960s and 1970s, the Unimog family had diversified into dozens of variants serving agriculture, the military, fire services, railways, and municipal work. The iconic 404 series alone served in more than fifty countries.
Today the Unimog exists in two distinct families. The off-road range, headed by the U5023 with 299 hp and portal axles derived from the original 1946 design, tackles the most extreme terrain on the planet. The implement carrier range, from the compact U216 to the versatile U530, serves municipalities across Europe with unmatched efficiency. Browse every model below, from the very first prototype to the latest generation.
